That idea came to me as i was posting another thread in another EU related blog...But it made sence to me so i will post it here as well...
I am talking about a city district in all or in as many as possible large or main European cities, the capitals of each country and perhaps one-two more main cities, that will be named Little Europe City District...
I am not talking about a fun-park like that one in Brussels, but totally integrated into the city's districts, with buildings, houses, shops, churches, restaurants, cafes, patiseries, parks that are inspired or copies from all other european countries' architecture or culture...A mini Europe will exist in al/most european cities, and the inhabitants will have a chance to get curious and get to know the culture of other EU nations...
We already have Little China-towns, Mini-Dehlis, or Small-Lagos' in Europe, why not have something that will add on to the integration progress constructively. The culture of one nation will be well known in all other nations, and ideas, populations, habbits, food,drinks,life-styles will be established in one small part of every other country apart one's own....A common identity will be formed, and everybody will be aware of all other nations' culture and lifestyle....Get to know each other..
You will perhaps think "why not simply travel"...?? Well even today a lot of europeans are not able to travel as often, and even if they do, they usualy go to one place under the sun over and over again, and many others see only the touristy areas and sites, but do not really know the real life in the country they are visiting.Besides, with our economies deteriorating fast, we will see less and less Europeans able to travel...
The other question is who would dare to do it, and why..?? It involves money, and once money is involved nothing is being done unless is has loads of profit and fast..Well time to invest a bit in other things in Europe that money making for the few. In my opinion if the european project is to be succesful, it needs to invest money in getting the attention of the public, and their support...Inspire them..Feel it is a project of their own, something that gives them something extra apart freedom of travel (as many still view it).Yes make EU and Europe a bit pop-ular...And one way is by the media,(tv channel, press) , events (Cultural Capital of Europe),and why not L.E.CI.D. (Little Europe City Districts)...??
